ALL New Moons have the strongest effect on us 3 days prior and up to 3 days after

The Moon is New in Aries, the sign of the Ram, on Thursday, April 7th, at 4:24am {pst}

New Moons are a time of starting over, new beginnings, taking action steps towards your dreams and goals, creating and renewal!

SUPER MOON

This full moon happens to be a SUPER MOON which means that the intensity level is heightened. It’s a time when the moon is brighter and closer to the Earth than usual and we are said to be able to feel its magnetic pull even stronger.

New Moons are always about New Beginnings and taking action steps towards your dreams. This Moon is connected to the Sun in Aries. Aries is about urgency, energy, confidence, courage, honesty, telling it like it is, enthusiasm, independence, putting yourself out there, and getting started! This energy can also bring about hot-headedness, rudeness, impulsivity, impatience and selfishness.

Affirmation:

“I easily find myself acting on my constructive inner impulses.”

This new moon in Aries has you wanting to put it all out there. Erratic changes in mood and direction are highly likely. Your need to feel like you’re in the ‘right’ place comes from feeling free and able to express your independence and do what is right for YOU. You need to have space to change as you see fit, when you see fit, and at your will{Moon & Sun conjunct Uranus}. Yet, there is an underlying reminder that you need to stay realistic and use common sense{Moon & Sun trine Saturn} when it comes to what you do and say.

Your need to make your choices without any restriction is strong. But with Pluto’s influence{Moon Square Pluto} you have felt the pressure. Hardships and struggles have brought learning and growth and you begin to see, and understand, why things needed to happen the way that they did. What you have now has not come without a fight. A good fight. Maybe you had no idea the amount of courage and strength you had, until now. And if you didn’t step up and you think you’ve lost the battle, think differently. Slow down and take a step back. Be gentle with yourself. Mercury will turn Retrograde on April 28th in Taurus and you will begin to feel it’s effects in pre-shadow phase by April 14th. This further adds to the slow-down in thinking and communications.

With this Aries New Moon watch out for volatile tempers and a stubborn resistance to getting your own way. You may find yourself wanting to force things or feeling as if things are being forced on you. This type of controlling behavior will meet head-strong hot-headedness.

Use your readiness to stand up for what you believe in to be proud of who you are and what you believe in without identifying with it. Remind yourself that YOU GOT THIS! And the reason you ‘got this’ is because you showed up. Follow your inclinations to take a risk, to explore to keep showing up. KEEP SHOWING UP.

Affirmation:

“I cultivate the habit of Self-Reliance.”

HEALTH

YogaSTARology: Aries is connected to the Head and Brain

Affirmation:

“Total healing occurs in the area of my Head and Brain.”

Exercise: Downward Facing Dog or Puppy Dog

Directions: Start on Hands and Knees in Table Top Pose. Spread your fingers wide and turn them out just slightly. Walk your hands forward a bit, so they are at an angle, and press down, firmly into fingertips and outer palm. Feel like you are trying to suction cup the center of the palms. Arms are straight. Curl your toes under and round your spine up towards the sky as you draw your low belly in. Lift your knees off the mat and begin to press your chest towards your thighs. Allow your head to rest between your biceps, elongating your neck, and your body is in a V-shape. Legs may or may not straighten. Allow the knees to be soft, slightly bent but engage your thighs, quads, and draw your inner thighs back. Heels do not have to touch the ground. Your chest is pressing towards your thighs but your lower ribs are drawing into your body.

Modification: If you feel too much pressure in your shoulders and wrists and are finding it difficult to not keep your shoulders from coming over your wrists then bring your knees down to the mat in Puppy Dog Pose. Keeping your upper body in the Downward Facing Dog position, Forehead may rest on the mat, Hips stay over the Knees.

Benefits: Fresh blood flow to the brain helping to improve mood and thinking. Elongating the neck and releasing tension. Strengthening the shoulders and arms.
